5 Ways To Make Your Outdoor Space POP This Spring!

February 28, 2022

1. Let there be lights

We can’t wait for the warmth of the sun to brighten up our days again. Do your part to help your outdoor space shine by adding a range of lighting décor for a touch of whimsy. From large Edison Bulbs that act as a statement piece to fun twinkle lights that glimmer in the evenings, lighting your space is a simple way you can make a big impact on your yard, porch, patio, or balcony. Add in some ambient music and a few friends and you have yourself the perfect spring evening.

2. Embrace our feathered friends

While you are getting in the hosting mood, why not make a welcoming space for your feathered neighbours. Birdhouses can be a cute and quirky way to animate your space. You can either buy one ready to hang or purchase an unfinished wooden version to paint yourself…talk about a great family-friendly activity! Not only are birds beautiful neighbours, but they also help pollinate the plants in your yard and garden. Make sure to have a journal nearby so the whole family can keep track of the different species that come to visit.

3. Spice up your life with fresh herbs

Spring vibes are all about feeling fresh. Nothing enhances your cooking like fresh, homegrown herbs. Whether you have an open garden bed or a couple of pots on your porch, as long as you have a solid six hours of sunlight each day you are ready to go! Consider spacing your herbs out in your garden or planting them in separate pots. That way you can follow the watering needs of each individual plant and get the most bang for your buck.

4. Grow some tulips

Yellows, pinks, purples, reds, and whites…nothing says spring like a spectacular display of tulips. You can sprinkle them throughout your garden or create a colourful bed that really makes a statement. Consider adding some hyacinths and daffodils for an elegant arrangement of clippings on your kitchen table to bring some spring inside too.

5. Welcome your guests

Add curb appeal and greet springtime with a brand-new welcome sign. All you need is an old plank of wood – even an old shelf will work as the base of the sign. Either sand it down and add some stain and a top-coat or paint it in bright and cheery colours. Make sure you write “WELCOME” in letters large enough to see from the street. You can even stencil in your address or family name for some added personalization. Not feeling the DIY vibe? Stop by our gift shop to find fun signs, front porch décor, and tons more!
