Preparing Your Vehicle for Pickup

September 21, 2020

Step One:

READ YOUR MANUAL! All vehicles have a maximum weight capacity. That capacity can be found in your vehicle’s manual. Before you pick up your product, be sure your vehicle can support your landscape product load, and don’t forget to include yourself and any passengers in that weight restriction if you’re picking up a larger amount.

Step Two:

CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE and make sure your tires are FULL! When extra weight is added to your vehicle, more pressure is put on your tires, which could cause air to seep out. You don’t want to end up with flat tires and a full load of landscape materials you can’t transport.

Step Three:

COVER YOUR PRODUCT! Using a tarp to cover your product will not only protect your vehicle from an unnecessary mess, but it will help keep your supplies in place. You can use a tarp under the product and one on top to keep it from flying out while your vehicle is moving. Be sure your tarp is secured well to help protect everyone on the road behind you.

Step Four:

PREPARE YOURSELF! Your vehicle will handle differently with more weight added to it. Be prepared for your car to respond slower, and for turning to require more effort due to the weight shifting. When carrying mulch, stones, or even turf – driving safely is imperative, even if it’s only a short distance.

Step Five:

ASK! If you’re unsure if your vehicle is ready to transport your landscape supplies, give us a call! We’re well versed in how to best ship and transport our products and we can give you a couple pointers.
